Tips

  • Most hunters try to get the cleanest shot that they can. This practice makes the experience easier for both hunters and animals.

  • Kosher practices have strict rules about animal treatment. They forbid cruelty to animals and try to make the death quick and painless.

  • If you follow this path decide how strict you are, you can allow exceptions. For example, choosing to not refuse meat when offered to you by someone who didn’t know you practice HRMA. Or perhaps you are allowed to eat meat on special occasions. We are not perfect, and sometimes life gets in the way. There is no need to feel guilty about one burger because you are still helping by not eating a burger the other times.

  • There are farms that ethically raise meat. Be warned a lot of them are expensive, but if you only want meat occasionally, they can be worth it.

  • You don’t need meat at every meal. You should only have red meat about 2-3 times a week. Too much can cause health problems. This seems counter to our cultural norms but eating meat at every meal is relatively new in human history. We used to eat less meat and our bodies are adapted to eat less meat.
