Many of our New Year's resolutions focus on ourselves, (I want to lose weight, become richer, be less stressed) and that's great, we should strive for self-improvement. What if we centered one or two of your New Year's resolutions on others for example spend more time with family, give more to a charity, or take my dog out for more walks. If we all pick one or two resolutions that are focused on helping others that would certainly make the world a better place and 2021 a better year. Since this is an animal website here is a list of my top 10 New Year's resolutions that help save animals:
Switching to cruelty-free, whether it is meat or beauty products, you don't have to make a change all at once, try one item at a time. That makes this resolution much more manageable and you're more likely to stick with it.
Go meat-free one day a week.
Buy less palm oil. Try finding a new product once a week that doesn't have palm oil. You might find some brands that you really like. (For those who don't know farming palm oil is one of the leading causes of deforestation. YOu can find alternatives but reading the ingredients list or looking if it is RSPO meaning the palm oil was sustainably farmed.) Check out this site for some palm oil-free alternatives.
Equip your car with your reusable kit, for example, reusable grocery bags, produce bags, coffee travel mug, straw, to-go containers, and silverware.
Volunteer or donate. Don't know where to volunteer? Here is a great website that gives you multiple ways you can help that aren't just cleaning up after animals AND they have links to websites that find volunteer opportunities near you.
Pick up litter in a nature preserve.
Raise money and donate it.
Spend at least a half-hour every day with your pets.
Learn about animals once a week and then tell someone else about it.
Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
